Also, there are some elderly malnutrition chronic illnesses such as poor tooth system (loose teeth or have fallen much) causes difficulty in chewing food.Salivary gland fibrosis reduces the salivary secretions (saliva has some enzymes needed for employment puree food). Due to the physiological function of the impaired elderly people, especially the senses, especially taste and smell, so do not stimulate the appetite in the elderly.
Malnutrition among the elderly may also be found in some cases prone to food allergies, so the elderly 'afraid to eat' worrying after ingestion will be gastrointestinal problems such as nausea, vomiting or diarrhea, abdominal pain. A number of gastrointestinal diseases (especially diseases of the stomach). Mental illnesses such as chronic depression, dementia is a huge influence to digest and so very easily lead to malnutrition. Alcoholism is also a significant cause, alcoholics are anorexia, do not even want to eat any foods other than alcohol. In some cases the elderly are malnourished due to abstinence overkill.
